Remco Evenepoel Rewrites History with Fourth Consecutive ITT World Championship Title
Belgian superstar Remco Evenepoel made cycling history in Montreal on Sunday, producing a masterclass against the clock to retain his Individual Time Trial World Championship crown for an unprecedented fourth year running.
Entering as the clear pre-race favourite, Evenepoel delivered a flawless performance over the demanding 39.2-kilometre course, powering to victory in 44 minutes and 53 seconds—a full 57 seconds ahead of his main rival, Italy's Filippo Ganna.
Unprecedented Dominance Against the Clock
While legendary figures such as Fabian Cancellara, Tony Martin, and Jeannie Longo have all racked up four world time trial titles during their decorated careers, Evenepoel stands alone as the first rider in history to claim four back-to-back victories in the discipline.
The 26-year-old took early control of the race, establishing a 22-second cushion over Ganna by the first timing check. He steadily stretched his advantage across the flatter middle section before finishing strongly on the technical run-in through Montreal.
"It's amazing. Winning here for the fourth time in a row was obviously the ultimate goal coming in," Evenepoel said after his victory. "It was a massive motivation for me. I have to give huge thanks to the entire team for the preparation and to Specialized for all the new equipment they built specifically for this."
Eyes Set on Historic Double
Despite a unconventional training build-up earlier in the season—which included a 69-day absence from racing prior to the Tour de France—Evenepoel appears to be in peak form.

With the time trial title secured, the Belgian's focus turns immediately to the upcoming road race on Sunday. Victory there would see him become the first male rider ever to complete the ITT and Road Race double at a single World Championships.
